Brooklyn, Wellington – one of our top suburbs. That’s height I’m talking, not Capital of Cool rating – though it could easily be! Brooklyn is perched just 10 minutes up the hill from the CBD and 10 minutes, er, up the hill from the sea.
There’s more to Brooklyn than the bus shelter that earned it its 15 minutes (actually 3 months) of fame when it was turned into an Omnibusstop Domesticus (pic below) between December and March 12/13.
…more to this lofty suburb than its solitary turbine. Or its liquorice allsort, deco-dated movie house, The Penthouse (75 next year!). Or the quaint (sort-of) village centre, whose heart is pumping just a bit faster these days with the addition of a few more businesses.
Lots happens in Brooklyn (popn. 4000). I see the details when I’m out walking: some are just small delights, some are bigger…
That’s why I’m posting about Brooklyn on Live Wellington
I’ll post if there’s a pic that tells a story. Or if there’s something that’ll conjure up a smile (news that WCC is letting us keep our library a bit longer). I’ll post when I see a car deck set on fire (Clarence St, start of year) and ask if you saw anything sus. Or, screw it, illustrate such news as: graffiti artist at it again on Mornington Rd’s garages - he’s no Banksie, that’s f’sure.
More likely though, I’ll probably just be posting my musings about the suburb I live in. Brooklyn. It’s a good ‘hood.
